About Marcia Hero
Marcia Hero began her art career at the age of 8 when she was enrolled in classes at the Milwaukee Art Museum. She continued to take classes there throughout her childhood. During that time, she remembers painting and sketching some of Milwaukee's former landmarks such as the old Northwestern Train Depot and the T.A. Chapman's department store.
While living in Monterrey, Mexico as a young adult, Marcia studied oil painting at the Instituto Tecnologico and de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. After moving to El Salvador, Central America in 1976, she painted exclusively in oils and sold paintings to family and friends.
Upon her return to the U.S. in 1980, her painting took a back seat to family life, but in 1988 she enrolled in the fine arts program at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While there, she focused on ceramics and was awarded a $500 scholarship for a ceramic vessel titled "Man's Discovery".
Marcia's home and garden were featured in the July 10, 2005 Entree section of the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinal, and were part of the Enderis Park Neighborhood home tour that year. www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=338770 Also in 2005, Marcia returned to oil painting and has studied under artists Pamela Scesniak, James Hempel, and Lorin Willey in Milwaukee. Since then, she has received awards for many of her paintings including "Sunset on the Marsh", "Sunrise in Cabo", "Paws for Reflection", "Betty Boop Rose", "Purrrfect", and "Lion's Den Marsh".
